Grid

A grid can be used to draw precise effects

To show the grid go to View > Grid > Show grid (Ctrl + G).

To modify the grid settings go to View > Grid > Grid settings

Add guides to the drawing canvas. Hold mousedown on the one of the rulers and drag the mouse over the canvas.
